What: 2012 Chevrolet Camaro SS
Where: Rochester, NY
This story starts with a broken leg, a Subaru STi and a 2012 Camaro SS. You see, Chris was not always an American muscle type of guy, but though what we would call divine intervention, he saw the light and offed the little woosh-pop kids car and landed himself in the drivers seat of one of the most iconic nameplates there is…Camaro
Vowing to keep the little 5th-Gen stock at first, Chris wandered into Fully Loaded Performance, a friends performance shop in downstate NY, located in Tivoli, NY and that’s where the slippery slope got tilted. They talked about what direction he wanted to go with upgrades and decided on a supercharger from SLP – note: we don’t know the guys at Fully Loaded Performance, but thanks for getting Chris pointed in the right direction. From there, Chris added a set of Stainless Works headers, minus the cats (knowing you can just bolt that stuff back on when it’s time for the DEQ station), full 3-inch exhaust, a ported throttle body, a Cold Air Inductions intake with a little scoop to get more O2 into the air-pump, MSD wires and NGK TR6 plugs and a B&M transmission cooler rounded out the first wave of upgrades.
Recently, Chris added full BMR suspension package and a set of drag radials to get the power to the ground, and cosmetically he added a RK Sport ram air hood painted matte black, GlowShift AFR & boost gauges, powder coated wheels, SLP front splitter, blacked out emblems, side markers, and spoiler to help set it apart. Finally, it was tuned by New Era Performance and the last trip to the dyno yielded 506rwhp/502rwtq resulting in a 11.87 at 117mph not too shabby for a few little bolt-ons and some tuning.
Next on the list of “to-dos” for Chris is to get the car back to Fully Loaded Performance, add a drag wheel setup along with new rear gears, smaller supercharger pulley, and upgraded torque converter and hopes to be knocking on the 10-second door soon….Keep at it Chris, we wanna see that time slip too and until then here is a hit from Empire Dragway…
We love the commentary of Chris’s friends as he puts his Camaro up against a Hellcat Charger – wins 11.87 vs 12.03 – get those upgrades on Chris and lets see some more.
